Hi!

Federation doesn't work like that. Boosting your message won't make future messages of yours visible on my server or anywhere else.

Your message is visible on server S if anyone on S follows you, or if anyone boosts your message to any user of S, or, of course, if you're posting from S. The best way to get all your messages on to lots of servers is to say something fascinating post cat pictures so that people on lots of servers follow you.

Conversely, the way to make sure you see all of a particular person's posts is to follow that person.

Being on a largish, active instance will ensure that most interesting people are followed by at least one person on your server, and so all their messages will be visible when you go and look for them.

There are special measures that small and single-user instances can take to improve federation, but I've never run an instance and so can't talk usefully about those.
